WEB STABILIZERS – PRESS SECTION
Enerquin Air meets the runnability challenges head-on with its unique tandem vacubox / blow-box technologies. Enerquin Air offers the widest array of solutions for greater efficiency, higher machine speeds and improved paper quality.
PRESS NIP - AIR BLOWING SOLUTION
The Enerquin Air PressNip Vacubox eliminates the air entrained by the press felt which creates an air bubble at the closing press nip. The PressNip box uses a low vacuum to ensure runnability in the press section and advantageously replaces high vacuum “anti-blow-boxes”.

The concept of utilizing a single-felted section at the wet end of the paper machine stabilizes the sheet. This allows the weak sheet to be supported throughout the wet end of the dryer section until it gains strength.

As speeds increases, the effect of the positive and negative nips combined with centrifugal forces caused the sheet to drop off the bottom dryer. This causes stretching and wrinkling of the sheet.

The efficiency and flexibility of the SynerRun and SynerVac boxes allow Enerquin to offer a specific solution to any single-tier dryer configuration, from the basic unirun section to the modern single felted machine with vacuum rolls, such as Bel-Champ & Bel-Run sections.
PRESS-TO-DRYER TRANSFER
PressVac / PTD Blow Box
Transfer of the sheet from the press section to first dryer cylinder normally presents the first unsupported draw. Threading problems and frequent sheet breaks are often associated with this sheet transfer.

Enerquin puts an end to the press-to-dryer transfer limitation with the PTD Blow Box and PressVac Box, which…
  • Work in conjunction with an extended top felt close to the last granite roll;
  • Hold the sheet tight against the underside of the felt for the entire transfer length;
  • Reduce speed draw;
  • Improve sheet stability and threading;
  • Allow higher machine speeds with fewer paper breaks.

SynerVac-E c/w Single-Tier Ventilator
The efficiency and flexibility of the SynerRun and SynerVac boxes allow Enerquin Air to offer a specific runnability solution to any single-tier dryer configuration, from the basic unirun section to the modern single-felted machine with vacuum rolls such as Bel-Champ& Bel-Run sections.

Advantages of the SynerRun box design:
  • Effective on both sides of the pocket and maintains a good sheet/fabric contact throughout the entire open fabric portions of the single felted dryer section;
  • For dryer section upgrades, the SynerRun box can be supplied with heated air from existing hood supply systems ;
  • Wide gap between the box and the dryer cylinder minimizes the risks of fabric damages; the box provides more clearance than conventional blow boxes in the event of paper wraps;
  • The SynerRun box is designed such that the fabric movement will naturally entrain air to generate a slight vacuum in the pocket in the event of supply air shortage;
  • The SynerRun box introduces sensible heat in the Unirun section and simultaneously provides sheet stability.


Advantages of the SynerVac box design:
  • Unlimited vacuum;
  • Low-energy consumption;
  • Servicing or washing, since there are no small openings or slots anywhere in the vacubox components that could plug due to dust and/or fiber accumulation;
  • Wide gap between the box and the dryer cylinder minimizes the risks of fabric damages; the box provides more clearance than conventional boxes in the event of paper wraps;
  • The SynerVac box is designed such that the fabric movement will generate a slight vacuum between the box and the fabric in the event of air vacuum shortage.


The SynerVac-E is a "double" Vacubox, which holds the sheet tight against the felt on the “up-run” and “down-run” to assure optimum web stability for wide and high speed machines. The SynerVac-E is specially designed for old and new single-tier machines with vacuum rolls. The box has edge zones with threading mode. Each box has two exhaust ports connected to the vacuum roll exhaust ducts (tending side and drive side).

The SynerVac-E unique design, which does not require any exhaust or supply fan, is the most economical and efficient solution to improve the runnability of existing single-tier dryer sections equipped with vacuum rolls.

The TransVac and DST boxes ensure web stability at the transfer between dryer sections.

Using the advantage of Enerquin vacubox or blow box technology coupled with felt run configuration modifications, if necessary, smooth transfer and threading are achieved every time.

… Natural Pocket Ventilation Dynamics
Higher evaporation is normally associated with higher machine speeds. The natural pocket air flow becomes inadequate and it is necessary to introduce a greater amount of dry air into the pockets to reduce total pocket humidities and while controlling air movement to optimize runnability and promote drying.

P.V. systems improve machine drying rates and maintain a uniform CD sheet moisture profile.
Mark II
The Enerquin Mark II Pocket Ventilator works with the natural air flow, providing excellent drying capability in the double-felted section. The Mark II utilizes a unique Dual-Jet design to create a large pressure area over the full felt width to force air through the fabric.
  • The Mark II works with the natural air flow to increase penetration efficiency and to allow humid air to be expelled from the pocket as the felt and paper travel to the next dryer;
  • The Mark II improves the paper machine drying rate and maintains a uniform cross machine moisture profile;
  • The Mark II is a high performance pocket ventilator with low energy usage.
Mark III
The Enerquin Mark III Pocket Ventilator: The Triple-Jet technology. The Mark III ventilates the pocket using the Dual-Jet on the wet end side, while its 3rd jet on the dry end side extracts moist air out the pocket by increasing the natural air flow.
  • The Mark III increases drying efficiency;
  • The pocket is air balanced and sheet flutter caused by excessive axial air flow eliminated;
  • The Mark III improves the paper machine drying rate and maintains a uniform cross machine moisture profile;
  • The Mark III is a high performance pocket ventilator with low energy usage.
Mark III-BD
The Enerquin Mark III-BD is a high efficiency Pocket Ventilator which enhances the performance of the Enerquin Air Triple-Jet technology. The Mark III-BD has a built-in doctor that peels-off the cooler and humid boundary air entrained by the felt as it moves around the dryer, which increases the pocket relative humidity and creates high axial air flows leading to edge flutter.

The Mark III-BD extends the normal operating range of the Mark III, in terms of machine speed and grade, and is easily installed on dryer sections that would otherwise be converted to an “off-set pocket arrangement”, thus resolving sheet instability as well as high pocket humidity problems at the lowest cost possible.
Mark RD
As machine speeds are increasing runnability becomes the bottleneck even in the double felted section. Sheet instability and edge flutter needs to be controlled. This is achieved by off-setting the felt roll towards the wet end which reduces the unsupported draw.

The Enerquin Air Mark RD Pocket Stabilizer is specially designed for this “off-set pocket arrangement” to ensure sheet stability by holding the sheet tight to the felt while at the same time introducing enough hot and dry air in the pocket to guarantee a good drying rate.
Single-Tier Ventilator
The Enerquin Air Single Tier Ventilator (STV) enhances the machine runnability and contributes to the drying process of single-tier dryer sections.

The STV provides a directional forced air supply over the full machine width at the divergence point of the paper and fabric from the dryer shell to:
  • Prevent web/felt separation that leads to edge flutter and wrinkles;
  • Bring sensible heat in the drying environment;
  • Complement and enhance the web stabilizer function.
Felt Purge Ventilator
The Enerquin Felt Purge Ventilator (FPV) contributes to maintaining the hood balance, while adding sensible heat to the drying environment and conditioning the dryer fabric.
Production Booster Ventilator
The Enerquin Air Production Booster Ventilator (PBV) has been developed for un-felted board machines using years of experience in impingement drying.

The PBV brings sensible heat to the drying environment and its air jets increase the evaporation rate while ensuring a maximum ventilator/Dryer clearance to reduce interference with broke.
